Get a quick introduction to SingLit and read on the go. Inspired by the short story vending machines designed and produced by France’s Short Editions, Sing Lit Cloud is a series of CLOD (cloud literature on demand) printers capable of printing short excerpts readable in 1-5 minutes. Starting from this year’s #BuySingLit, the printers will be placed at various high-traffic locations across Singapore for specific periods of time. Through the use of technology and the ease of on-the-go reading, the CLOD printers aim to inspire and encourage today’s attention-scarce public to read and buy works of Singaporean literature.
The printers will be stationed at Mapletree Business City, Our Tampines Hub and [email protected] during the #BuySingLit weekends and will be rotated to other locations as well. This programme will also be presented in conjunction with Arts In Your Neighbourhood from 7 to 24 March.
Sing Lit Cloud also encompasses a publicly-accessible digital archive of Singaporean prose called prose.sg, which will act as a database from which the CLOD printers will draw from. prose.sg is a home for Singaporean fiction and creative non-fiction; a growing archive of authors and texts, organised by Sing Lit Station.
